Put The Kettle On

AUDIO | 6 MINUTES

Return to this moment over a cup of tea.

Here is an invitation to ground yourself amidst the busyness of your day. To wrap your hands around a warm cup and take care of the carer, amidst all the care you do for others.

  • Simply put the kettle on, take a deep breath, and press play below.

  • Your kettle, favourite tea and a mug you love.

  • This moment was created by Sarah Lockwood. It draws on the rich language of rest by John O’Donohue who urges us all to ‘be excessively gentle with yourself.’

It is performed by Grandmother Teaote Davies with music by Zoë Barry.

With your feet on the ground, stand in front of your kettle and press play.

This audio is part of a suite of connective and creative moments for parents and carers of babies called Glow.

In 2025, Threshold are partnering with organisations and venues across Regional Australia to make Glow available for free to their communities. We invite you to register for a complimentary 3 month pass to the full Glow experience below.

I would try to carve out tiny moments for myself when my babies were young. Putting on eye cream each night was a reminder to be gentle with myself. And cups of tea to mark the rhythm of the day - they became an anchor in my world, a moment of grounding.
